The proceeds from the marathon are directed towards implementing high impact cultural and community-based tourism initiatives and projects in a selected community or communities. The initiatives and projects are determined and chosen after close interaction and in collaboration with the community’s cultural leaders, historians and local community members to ensure it meets the actual needs of the people.
