Day 1: Transfer to Murchison via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Leave Kampala at exactly 7am and head northwards along Gulu highway. We first stop at Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch which is located in Nakasongola District. After briefing and assigning a family and guide, we drive closer and then have a short nature walk. As we move closer, we see the great rhinos, one of the “big five” in their habitat. These giant creatures are peaceful and fascinating to look at. The guide will be at the service of your curiosity.
Stop for a delicious lunch buffet en-route at Masindi, the home of the vigorous Murchison falls and wildlife. Go in for an evening game drive on arrival. You will be blessed with herds of buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, lions and many others. On arrival at the hotel, check in for a good night’s rest.
Day 2: Morning game drive, boat cruise and community visit.
After an early breakfast, go for a morning game drive. Here you will see wild animals in abundance. As the animals are waking up from their cozy slumbers, and fueling up for the day. The plain savannahs and the different tree species below the orangish sunrise are sure to brighten up your morning.
Immediately after, go for a boat ride to the bottom of the falls and hike to the top of the falls. Along the way, you will watch many birds lingering, for example the snakebird, the egret species, red throated bee eater among others. You will also see hippos, Nile crocodiles, baboons etc. While you enjoy the scenic views of the rift valley and the mighty River Nile, sealed with the cool breeze on your skin.
Go back to the hotel, freshen up and have a well-prepared meal for lunch. After, we go to visit the hospitable Mobuku community, located just Northwest of Murchison falls National Park. Learn about their culture, their origin, staple food, daily way of life and all you’re curious about
Day 3: Community visit and evening game drive.
Wake up to breakfast and then head to Pakwach, to visit the Alur community. They are part of the larger Luo group. Pakwach is the main entrance to West Nile, which implies that you dive into a new area with a unique lifestyle. From their political history to how they feed. These people are very social. So, feel free to ask them anything you’re curious about. After, have a drive through Pakwach and get to do some shopping. There are many items along the street that may catch your attention.
Have lunch at the hotel, relax and step on it for another evening game drive to experience more of what Murchison falls National Park has to offer. From wild animals to eye-catching views and beautiful vegetation. More baboons, birds, monkeys, giraffes, leopards (on a lucky day), lions and so much more.
Day 4
This is our last day of the trip, have breakfast and check out. Start the journey to Kampala. Lunch en route. We shall also have healthy stop overs and support the local markets that sell fresh organic tropical fruits and crafts.
Depending on the time of the flight, we may transfer direct to the Airport or spend the night in Kampala
